Woensdag appdag: De Zee
Afgelopen dinsdag was de app De Zee van Juf Jannie gratis tijdens het AppEvent. De app werd 10.942 keer gedownload (bron @JufJannieApps). Met de app werk je op een speelse manier aan de woordenschat van de jongste kinderen. Je gaat aan de hand van vier praatplaten op zoek naar allemaal op zoek naar dieren en dingen die je in en rondom de zee kunt vinden. Kies ervoor om de woorden aan te wijzen, of kies dat Juf Jannie je vragen stelt waarop je antwoord moet geven.

Deze app is niet ontwikkeld voor Android of Windows 8. Maar Juf Jannie heeft wel een aantal andere apps ontwikkeld voor Android.
Leerdoel
PO - kerndoel 1 - De leerlingen leren informatie te verwerven uit gesproken taal. Ze leren tevens die informatie, mondeling of schriftelijk, gestructureerd weer te geven.
Groep 1/2:
- eenvoudige, korte monologen, (interactief) voorgelezen teksten
- dialogen
- gesprekken in kleine groep en grote groep (met leraar)
Maar de app is ook goed geschikt voor jongere kinderen van 4 jaar en kan dus ook gebruikt worden in de dagopvang.
Opdracht
Ga eerst met de kinderen een kringgesprek aan over De Zee. Hebben zij de zee al eens gezien? Was dat in Nederland of in het buitenland? Bekijk vervolgens met de kinderen de app. Wat zien zij allemaal? Doe dit niet te lang, zo hebben zij ook nog zelf iets te ontdekken bij het zelfstandig werken. Neem gezamenlijk een kijkje bij de zee met bijvoorbeeld Google Maps of met de webcams van www.scheveningenlive.nl (Scheveningenlive heeft ook een app). Zie je daar dieren? Waarom niet? Sommige dieren leven onder water, sommige dieren leven niet in Nederland. Met wat geluk zie je op de webcam wel een meeuw voorbij vliegen of een kitesurfer. En met dit weer misschien wel een snowkiter. Hebben zij de andere dingen van de platen wel eens in het echt gezien?
Als het kringgesprek klaar is, kunnen de kinderen zelf aan de slag met de app. Afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid iPads in de klas (dit lesidee kan al met één iPad in de klas) kan er met de app gewerkt worden. Laat de leerlingen in tweetallen werken met de app en om de beurt iets aantikken op het scherm. Met elkaar kunnen ze dan ook praten over wat ze zien. Moedig dit aan.
Voorwaarden
Voor instructie:
- Digibord of beamer en computer met internetverbinding
- Gespreksstof over De Zee en eventueel wat foto’s van de dieren in het echt
- App of website waarmee naar de zee gekeken kan worden
Voor zelfstandig werk:
- Eén of een aantal iPads per groep met de app De Zee
- Circuitmodel om te regelen dat alle kinderen aan de beurt komen (of leg de iPad(s) in de leeshoek)
- Eventueel inzicht in welke leerlingen de vaardigheden beheersen en andere kinderen kunnen uitleggen
Voorwaarden vanuit de leerdoelen, deze zijn goed verwerkt in de app:
- taalaanbod is afkomstig van de leraren, van klasgenoten, van mensen buiten de school en van audiovisuele informatiebronnen zoals CD, CD-Rom, (school)radio en -tv en internet
- alle teksten hebben/krijgen veel visuele en auditieve ondersteuning (d.m.v. platen, voorwerpen, gebaren, mimiek, stemgebruik, intonatie)
- zinnen zijn kort en eenvoudig
- de onderwerpen van de teksten zijn dichtbij, ze gaan over het hier en nu, zijn contextgebonden en concreet, vooral rond concrete voorwerpen of handelingen; de afstand tussen onderwerp en luisteraar is klein
Stappenplan
- Bekijk de app met de kinderen
- Ga een kringgesprek aan met als thema de zee
- Bekijk eventueel gezamenlijk de webcambeelden en bespreek wat je ziet
- Bespreek met de kinderen of zij al eens dingen in het echt hebben gezien, wanneer was dat?
- Laat de leerlingen in tweetallen in een circuitmodel oefenen met de app en geef hen voldoende tijd
- Moedig mondelinge uitwisseling over de platen aan (wel zachtjes)
- Bespreek de oefeningen, wat vonden leerlingen ervan en wat hebben ze ervan geleerd?
Tip voor thuis
Dit hele lesidee kunt u ook thuis met uw kind uitvoeren. Het enige dat u nodig heeft is een internetverbinding en de app de Zee. Voer het instructiedeel gezamenlijk uit en laat daarna uw kind alleen met de app spelen. Zorg dat u wel in de buurt bent voor vragen en om het gesprek met uw kind weer op te pakken of een verdiepende vraag te stellen. Dit vergroot de woordenschat enorm.
